After 35 days stranded in Samoa, the Samatau and Asaga tribes finally merged on Sunday’s episode of Australian Survivor.

‘When you make the merge, it’s literally the best of the crop,’ said Jericho.

‘This is where the war really happens,’ he added.

With the newly-merged then kicked off their first individual reward challenge to win a letter from home and a deluxe pampering package.

The challenge came down to Jericho and Tessa, with Tessa ultimately taking out the victory.

In a twist, host Jonathan Lapaglia told the blonde that she could forfeit the pampering part of her reward to give the rest of her tribe their letters from home, which she agreed to do.

Yippee! The castaways were overjoyed that they'd made 'the merge'

‘I know how much those letters meant,’ she said. ‘I actually just couldn’t take that away from them.’

The castaways all shed tears as the read their letters, with larrikin Luke becoming the most emotional of the bunch as he read a letter from his wife and two sons.

‘I don’t cry, really,’ he said as tears streamed down his face.

‘I think I’ve cried once in front of her in the whole of seven years. This has easily been the best day for sure, and it’s all due to this, you know? It’s all due to this.’

After the emotional moment, the castaways quickly got back to strategising.

Multiple names were being thrown around, but most of the heat was on Henry, who Jarrad correctly singled out as a super threat.

Jarred quickly found power player Ziggy and convinced her that they should go after Henry instead of one of the Asaga members.

Safe and sound! Ziggy won the immunity challenge, keeping her safe from elimination at Tribal Council

As people strategised over who to vote out, the three main names that came up were Henry, Luke, and Jarred.

For a while it looked like Luke was set to go, but Michelle and Locky ended up flipping, resulting in Jarred being blindsided.

‘I guess you can say payback is a bitch,’ sneered Tara as she wrote down Jarred’s name.

‘I completely misread the situation and was too caught up in my own grand plans,’ said Jarred as he was sent home.

‘The message to the remaining players – keep going hard because it’s a crazy game.’
